Joining
California Road Club
Membership in
CRC is open to men and women of all ages and abilities. The club's
focus is amateur road racing and most members come to the club with
at least some racing experience. The membership is predominantly
masters and soon-to-be masters riders. But all we require really
is an interest in the sport and commitment to helping with the club's
activities throughout the year, including organizing the Mt. Tam
Hill Climb.
We have always
been a club where most of the members know each other, rather than
one where you're making your introductions at the start line of
a race. We'd like to keep it that way so we take a little more time
with new members than some other clubs. So if you're interested
in joining CRC, please introduce yourself - just look for our Hill
& Co. jerseys at races or on our weekend rides.
Ride
with us
Our club meets many Saturdays and Sundays throughout the year for
fast group training rides in Marin County. We depart either from
the south parking lot of the Golden Gate Bridge at 8 a.m., or from
Poggio restaurant in Sausalito at about 8:30. Group size varies,
depending on our racing and training schedules. During racing season
(and when the weather's really bad) you might not see any of us.
If that happens look for the bridge ride that usually goes off at
8AM, and meets up with the Roastery ride in San Anselmo. If you
see us, please say hello and let us know if you're interested in
joining CRC.
Our
group rides range from three to five hours, sometimes longer during
the winter. Typical training rides include repeats in the Headlands,
Paradise Loop through Tiburon, Alpine Loop over the north side of
Mt. Tam, or Pt.Reyes Station via Nicasio. These are generally not
"no-drop" rides (for some it's the only long-hard ride
of the week) so please come prepared to go it alone if need be.
This
is the best way for prospective members to meet us and to express
interest in joining - and to see if it's a good fit. If you want
more info, you can e-mail our membership guy at contact@californiaroadclub.org.
(Update: due to spam filters these haven't all been getting through,
so in-person is still the best way to reach us).
Membership

access to deals on bikes, frames, and cycling gear; discounts at
local cycling-related businesses; team clothing (at cost or lower);
destination training camps at reasonable cost; and access to one

the year for dinner & cycling talk at a local restaurant.
